GS Diablo 4 Is Invading Overwatch Once Again, With Even More Skins

Overwatch is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Diablo and the release of Diablo 4's second expansion, Lord of Hatred, in a big way.

Starting April 28, Blizzard is bringing back four Diablo-themed skins to its free-to-play hero shooter's in-game shop, as well as introducing five entirely new ones. The crossover will additionally include two free weapon charms that can be earned from Twitch Drops. Players will need to watch a total of two hours of Overwatch content on the streaming platform between April 28 and May 10 to claim the Wolf Pup and Sword weapon charms.

Blizzard had already revealed a Mephisto-themed Ramattra skin (as seen in the trailer above). The other new skins are Paladin Brigitte, Warlock Lifeweaver, Druid Mauga, and Rogue Freja. As for the returning skins, they are likely to be Lilith Moira, Inarius Pharah, Gilded Hunter Sombra, and Imperious Reinhardt. These skins were previously available from the in-game shop or as part of previous battle passes.

There are a handful of other Diablo skins that are currently unavailable but could also make a return. Demon Hunter Sombra was originally offered as part of Blizzard's 2018 BlizzCon virtual ticket as well as the following year's Halloween event. Butcher Roadhog is currently unavailable for purchase and could also make a return. In all likelihood, the Diablo Overwatch skins on offer will be the ones Blizzard previously offered around the time Diablo 4 launched, but it would be cool to see Demon Hunter Sombra or Roadhog Butcher become available once again.

Following its rebrand where it dropped the 2 from its name, Overwatch is now in its second season, having introduced five new heroes in Season 1 and an additional (overpowered) hero, Sierra, in Season 2. Blizzard's shooter recently came to Switch 2 as well, though not without some launch issues.

Diablo 4, meanwhile, will soon receive its second expansion on April 28--one that adds two new classes, reworks skill trees, revamps endgame progression, and brings an end to the game's current Hatred Saga storyline. In GameSpot's Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred review-in-progress, writer Jessica Cogswell called the expansion "a new high point for the series" and a "must-play expansion."
